About

Ezekiel Sneezed is a folk project led by Irish/Australian, multi-instrumentalist Mark Farrelly. Farrelly grew up with classical music influences from his parents, including a ‘silent generation’ dad who just about knew who The Beatles were. His two old sisters’ polar opposite loves of 90s alternative rock and bubble gum pop also left its mark. The band’s music shows clear traces of Tallest Man on Earth, Fleet Foxes, System of a Down, Queens of the Stone Age and Vivaldi.

Farrelly picked up the guitar and started writing songs in Dublin, Ireland at the age of 15. Having moved to Melbourne in 2010, he started to explore different instruments such as the piano and violin and perform live with backing vocals from Molly McKew.

In 2015, Farrelly moved to Barcelona to improve his Spanish lisp and take his music to a different audience. While there, he enlisted the help of Bryan Curtis (drums, based in Barcelona, Spain) and Diego Huayhualla Salazar (bass, based in Lima, Peru). In Spain these songs had their first airing with a full band and were ultimately taken in new directions. In 2018, the band began recording their eponymous first EP, Ezekiel Sneezed from their respective countries, which they released in 2020.

Their five-song follow-up EP Barceloner will be released in 2024.
